skill growth

When it comes to mastering a skill, time is the magic ingredient.

Past projects

I’ve always been fascinated by glass – as a kid, I used to dig up dirt in the back garden (pretending to be an archaeologist) and I’d collect bits of glass and stones.

It all started with a weekend glass fusing class at a local art shop. Opening the kiln was like Christmas morning with all the unique treasures that had formed with bits of shiny glass we’d cut-up the day before. I was so entranced, the day after the class, I bought the little kiln the shop had in the window and spent many years making jewelry, decor and anything I could make by melting glass in a kiln.

I modify traditional glass processes while adding in other materials, tools and skills amassed over my lifetime of learning and exploration to create my work. Finished pieces are themed by nature and not only visually engaging but also very tactile, breaking down the perceived fragility usually associated with glass. Stimulating these senses tend to trigger memories, creating a shared connection and community with all viewers of the work.

I’ve spent years experimenting, shifting and changing in order to learn and refine my skills. Now I can focus in on my unique voice and create what brings me joy, I hope you might like it too.
